It's been a long time coming but prizes were awarded on Monday night for greatest fund raising effort during the Christmas Swimathon. Close to £500 was raised following a fantastic fund raising effort which all participants should be proud of. Hopefully they should reap the rewards as 4 new nipper boards (incl 2 step up 8'6" boards) are on the way.
On another note, all members should be commended on their behaviour on Monday too as nipper/youth training was interrupted first by a lost child and a search effort followed by a weever sting involving another beach user. The older youngsters showed a high level of maturity in dealing with the situation while the nippers showed great patience as they waited on the beach. We can confirm that the missing child was found alive and well but he learnt his lesson not to wander off.

'Vigilance & Service' - Club member performs rescue at Coolangatta
December 28, 2016
At approximately 13.30 local time on December 28th, off duty lifeguard, Ralph Gifford, 28, went to the aid of two novice surfers who had got into difficulty at the northern end of the beach.
An outstanding effort was had by all last Monday in the first annual Falmouth SLSC sponsored swim with every participant swimming well over a kilometre. Prizes will be awarded next week but we would like to thank all sponsors for their donations and volunteers for helping count lengths and support the swimmers.
It may look like Maenporth but Former Club Captain Ralph Gifford and Falmouth SLSC's Australian envoy has begun a new summer in fine form as a patrolling member of Kurrawa SLSC. The ex-north coast lifeguard has recently relocated to the Gold Coast to pursue his career as a surveyor. Let's hope that the experience gained on those early patrols at Maenporth means he surveys the beach as well as he does buildings.
